Hork-Bajir Monsters
The mist zone between the trees and the chasms of the Hork-Bajir homeworld is home to
many different monsters. All were created by the Arn to keep the Hork-Bajir in the trees.
The following descriptions all come from The Hork-Bajir Chronicles unless
otherwise noted. We have to rely on Aldrea for the details, and she really didn't give many.
- Chadoo
- Not really a monster, the chadoo live in the great trees of Hork-Bajir. They are about
two feet long (Scale -3) and feathered. Other than the feathers, they are a lot like
tailless flying squirrels.
They apparently eat tree sap.
- Galilash
- Described as 14 feet tall (Scale 2), with green and red reptilian flesh and razored
tentacles.
- Gork
- Only three feet tall but 20 feet across (Scale 3), these are 12-legged horrors with
snapping, extending mouths on all sides.
- Jubba-Jubba
- We know only that this monster is three-fingered and big enough to eat half a Hork-Bajir
or a whole Gedd at once.
- Lerdethak
- This vine creature appears in both Animorphs #11: The Forgotten and
The Hork-Bajir Chronicles. It's the size of a small tree, say Scale 12-16, but
its STR is apparently around Scale 3 or 4, possibly due to the relative weakness of the
multiple slender vines that serve it as limbs. It also has Supernormal Power: lots of
vinelike arms.
- Unnamed things
- The Hork-Bajir never named these, because no survivor ever saw enough of one to name it.
Aldrea describes things with mouths that could chew down a tree, things with needle-sharp
quills ten feet long, and things that squirted acid. That's all she said.
