Things

This is sort of a catch-all section for gadgets and phenomena that don't fit anywhere else. Non-technological things like natural phenomena are listed below. Farther down are links to the three main classes of technology.

A word about spacecraft: We see Bug fighters underwater in Animorphs #27: The Exposure. Ax also comments in Animorphs #36: The Mutation that most spacecraft can travel underwater for a short time. Assume this is true for all spacecraft unless otherwise noted.

Sario Rip
An energy release of sufficient magnitude can create a temporary tear in the fabric of time, one which will maintain its position relative to the nearest significant source of gravity. In other words, a big explosion can create a hole in time. Anyone who falls through lands in the same place, but has gone into the past. If he somehow returns to the present, it will be at exactly the point in time when the Sario rip closes.

A Sario rip that extends far enough into the past can interfere with the regenerative effects of morphing. Injuries sustained before morphing won't heal through morph effects, and can cause severe pain if morphing is tried. Also, morphs acquired on the other side of a Sario rip aren't kept. The only things that come forward in time are memories.

The best reference materials on the Sario rip are Animorphs #11: The Forgotten and Megamorphs #2: In the Time of the Dinosaurs. The effects of being in two places at the same time are described in the former book, but are not recommended for play. It requires too much railroading.

The Sharing
This organization for all ages does service projects. Its members also spend time together having fun--camping trips, beach cookouts and the like. It's described as being like Boy Scouts, but for anyone.

It's really a front for the Yeerks, used to get new hosts. It turns up in almost every book, and the PCs can expect to be approached about it from time to time. Friends and family members may already belong.

It is important to remember that not every member of the Sharing is a Controller. There's an "inner circle" of members who are Controllers, and every leader is a Controller as well.

Zero-space
This is where extra morph mass goes, and where it is drawn from. This is also the means of faster-than-light travel for all races. Animorphs #18: The Decision is the best reference work on the subject. Also, in The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, Aldrea notes that Zero-space reconfigures from time to time, changing the travel time between places.
