These races are extinct, either through the natural effects of time or some malevolent
force. They're here for completeness' sake, not out of any need.
- Arn
- The Arn are the original inhabitants of Hork-Bajir. They have six legs, two wings and
brightly colored fur. The Arn are masters of the biological sciences, particularly genetic
engineering. They have a much lesser understanding of physics, although they are more
advanced than humans.
Gifts
TL +5 for biological sciences
TL +2 for physical sciences
Never a fear of heights
Faults
Scale -2 (about a meter tall)
- Ellimist References
- The Ellimist names several spacegoing races in
The Ellimist Chronicles, but gives almost no description of each. They include
the Generationals, who number themselves by generation; the Capasins, a multi-armed warlike
race with beaks; the Unemites, with variable skin color and limbs, as well as
a love of music; and the Illimids.
- Graffen's Children
- Described in Animorphs #26: The Attack as looking like
Gumby, but dark blue and rough textured, like the
bark of a tree. These creatures were friendly, with no understanding of war -- easy prey for
the Howlers.
- Howler Victims
- Animorphs #26: The Attack lists a few alien races destroyed by the
Howlers: the Mashtimee, Pon, and Nostnavay. Nothing else is
known about them at this time.
- Ket
- The Ket hail from the skies of a volcanic planet. They lived on giant crystals that flew
through the skies under the power of their many wings beating in concert. Their lower
extremities ended in pods adapted specifically to hold onto crystal spars. The crystals also
served as the basis of an optical network used for communications, information storage and
retrieval, and games. Crystal-to-crystal communication was never developed, but they had
discovered Zero-space travel, and one crystal found a way
to communicate through Zero-space.
The Ellimist started his existence as a Ketran.

- Mercorans
- Mercorans are human-sized crablike beings. They have multiple shuttered eyes that open
and close with varying frequency, depending on their emotional state. They are also very
peaceful, and masters of force field technology.
Gifts
Superb Balance, due to many legs
TL +4, +6 for force fields
Supernormal Powers
Can regenerate lost limbs over time
360o Vision from multiple eyes
Three arms
Telepathy
Faults
Pacifist
The Mercorans appear only in Megamorphs #2: In the Time of the Dinosaurs.
- Nesk
- The Nesk are hive creatures the size of ants. They can work together to form coarse
replicas of larger creatures like humans. This allows them to use devices of the appropriate
Scale.
Supernormal Powers
Scale: -29
High Technology, +3 TL
In large groups, able to form crude replicas of
larger creatures (allow all Attributes at Fair)
Replicas can be scattered but not truly injured
Nesk can actually have devices up to +5 TL on hand, because they steal their technology from
other races. Most of their equipment will be at +3 TL, though.
The Nesk appear only in Megamorphs #2: In the Time of the Dinosaurs.
- Pemalites
- We know very little about the Pemalites. They were a playful race with unbelievably
advanced technology, all of it dedicated to making life fun. They built the
Chee to be their friends. They built the craft seen in
Animorphs #27: The Exposure. Both the Chee and the craft are still functional
after uncounted millenia.
The Howlers destroyed the Pemalites long ago. The Chee
brought the survivors to Earth and combined their "essence" with Earth canines in
the distant past, producing the first dogs.
The Chee talk about the Pemalites occasionally, always in reverent, wistful tones. It
seems probable that the Pemalites looked something like bipedal canines. They must have had
at least human-level intelligence (but much higher technology, possibly as high as +8 TL)
and something akin to hands. Beyond that and their friendly, playful attitude, anything else
is blind speculation.
- The Five
- Ax mentions these as the reason the Venber are extinct in Animorphs #25: The
Extreme. He also implies that the Andalites may have been the ones to wipe out The
Five, but admits their histories are silent on the subject.
- Venber
- About eight feet tall (Scale 1), these cold-planet humanoids had heads shaped a little
like a hammerhead
shark's. They had two upper arms split at the elbows to form four forearms. Two of the
forearms were used to propel them along the ice on their long, ski-like feet. Their skin was
silver, with flashes of bloodred and midnight blue along their flanks and shoulders,
converging in their faces. They melt in temperatures above freezing.
The Venber were harvested to extinction by The Five as a source of coolants for their
superconductors. The Yeerks used genetic engineering to resurrect a few samples as
cold-environment labor in Animorphs #25: The Extreme.
